MEET THE DIRECTORS AND BOARD MEMBERS

Kacey Santelman, Director
A former member of Sign Design Theatre Company, Kacey Santelman took over as director in January 2003. For the past 18 of her 25 years she has been involved with American Sign Language, dance and theatre. She attended the Las Vegas Academy for Performing Arts High School majoring in theatre and dance. She began working for Blue Man Group in 2000 and continues to this day. Kacey received her degree in Communications and Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and is currently working on a second degree in deaf studies. Kacey has a passion for ASL, teaching and children. Not only does Kacey have history with Sign Design but her innovative ideas and teaching methods show a promising future for Sign Design Theatre and all who are involved.

Dawn Carroll, Assistant Director
Dawn Carroll, assistant director, joined Sign Design at the age of eight when the organization was only two years old. She was a proud, active member for eight years and attended rehearsal on an average of five days a week. Her love for performing led her to the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts where she majored in theatre and minored in dance. She then went on to receive her BA from the School of Theatre Film and Television at UCLA with the intention of continuing her career in Deaf Theatre. She has participated in over 30 plays throughout her lifetime as well as various film and television projects. She was reunited with Kacey and Sign Design Theatre in February of 2006 and will be working on her masters degree in deaf education. She is overjoyed to be a part of this company once again and hopes to be as much of a strong positive influence for the members of Sign Design as Jackie and Mia were for her.

Both Kacey and Dawn played "Dorothy" in Wizard of Oz when Sign Design put the production on in 1992. Years passed, now the two who worked together as childhood friends, teach and direct together as partners.
